Honoring Your Body: Peaceful Health Stewardship for Christian Women

Have you ever felt like the world of wellness is just another source of overwhelm? We totally get it! Every scroll, every article, every new 'must-have' product can leave us feeling like we're constantly failing to keep up. But what if caring for our bodies was meant to be a journey of peace, not pressure? What if stewardship didn't have to turn into striving?

This episode of Spirit Filled Girl Talk is all about slowing down the health hustle and looking at what it truly means to honor the bodies God gave us. It's about finding wisdom, peace, and practical ways to care for ourselves in a way that leaves room to breathe, remembering that our worth isn't tied to perfect performance.

The Overwhelm of Modern Wellness

It seems like health has become incredibly heavy for so many women. We start wanting to feel better, but somewhere along the way, it morphs into an exhausting pursuit. A big part of this is the sheer volume of conflicting information online – so many voices, often without real health backgrounds, promoting the latest supplements or diets. It's more 'infotainment' than true guidance, leaving us questioning everything we know.

Another layer of this overwhelm comes from fear-based health messaging. Whether it's in conventional medicine or the holistic space, fear is often used as a sales tactic. We're told we need to be afraid of everything around us and strive for perfection to 'survive.' This pressure to 'optimize' every aspect of our health can quickly turn genuine stewardship into obsessive striving.

Stewardship vs. Striving: What Scripture Says

Scripture clearly calls us to steward our bodies, but it's crucial to understand that stewardship is not the same as striving or obsession. Our bodies are profound gifts from God, entrusted to us during our time on earth.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

We are called to honor the Lord in everything we do, and that includes how we care for our physical selves. We're not meant to control everything or idolize our health. Our bodies are perishing; they're not our eternal dwelling. The line between stewardship and obsession often blurs when health becomes an idol – when fixing our body or perfecting its appearance becomes more important than anything else, even the Lord. This can manifest as constant 'doom scrolling' for answers or endlessly researching symptoms. Partnering with a trusted practitioner can help release the burden of having to figure it all out, allowing us to trust God with the outcome.

Health, Identity, and Mindset

Wellness culture can easily become performance-driven, making us believe we have to earn our peace or healing through perfect health practices. This can lead to our health becoming our identity, or rather, our diagnosis becoming our identity. If we're not careful, we might unconsciously internalize a diagnosis like Hashimoto's or Lyme disease, carrying it like a badge of honor. But this is a dangerous path. Our primary identity is a daughter of the King, first and foremost.

We are not our diagnoses. These are things we go through, not who we are. God uses our trials, our pain, and our struggles to deepen our dependency on Him and sanctify us. It's vital to renew our minds in Christ, remembering who we are in Him and who He is – a God bigger than any challenge. Your mindset truly is everything. Approaching a diagnosis with a
