Have you ever been drawn to something that sounded spiritual but left you wondering whether it was truly from God? In an age where deception blends seamlessly with biblical language, spiritual discernment is no longer optional for Christian women. It is essential.
Many practices promise emotional release, inner peace, or deep healing. Some even reference God, prayer, or the energy He created. They may come recommended by other believers. That is what makes the confusion so subtle.
Our story began with a sincere desire to help others experience healing. As women passionate about holistic health and fully surrendered living, we believed we were serving God. But what we discovered was the urgent need for spiritual discernment in a culture where counterfeit Christianity hides behind spiritual language.
This is not an easy conversation, but it is one the Body of Christ must have.
When Healing Language Sounds Holy but Is Not
The wellness world is filled with spiritual terminology. Words like vibration, frequency, alignment, energy, emotional blocks, source, and subconscious patterns are often presented as compassionate and enlightened.
Yet spiritual discernment asks a deeper question. Where does the power for this healing come from?
Practices such as remote muscle testing, body code, emotion code, Mind Body Spirit Release, Reiki, or other “Christianized” versions of energy work claim to access hidden information or realign the body for healing. The language may feel gentle. The intention may seem good. But Scripture warns us clearly.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12
Deuteronomy 18:10 to 12 cautions against seeking hidden knowledge or power apart from God. Any method that attempts to reveal hidden truth outside of the Holy Spirit’s authority falls into dangerous territory.
Discernment protects us from mistaking spiritual language for biblical truth.
How Deception Masquerades as Light
2 Corinthians 11:14
Second Corinthians 11:14 tells us that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Deception rarely announces itself clearly. It often appears compassionate, empowering, and even faith-friendly.
For Christian women walking through chronic illness, loss, trauma, or emotional pain, the promise of relief can feel irresistible. Energy-based practices often acknowledge the mind-body connection that conventional systems ignore. That partial truth makes them convincing.
But something can acknowledge a real need while offering a counterfeit solution.
Spiritual discernment requires us to test everything against Scripture. Just because something feels helpful does not mean it is holy. Just because it references God does not mean it aligns with His Word.
When healing shifts from surrender to self-reliance or reliance on a self-proclaimed “healer”, it moves us away from trusting God fully.
When Good Intentions Lack Going to God
We did not enter these practices with rebellion. We entered with compassion. We wanted freedom, body, soul and spirit, for ourselves and for others.
But the Holy Spirit exposed what good intentions alone could not. Even practices labeled Christian can distort biblical truth when they mix Scripture with unbiblical methods.
Anything that shifts healing away from Jesus as the sole source of redemption and restoration deserves scrutiny.
Counterfeit systems often create dependency. Instead of pointing people toward discipleship and deeper relationship with God, they create reliance on a practitioner, a process, or a technique.
True discipleship always leads to greater surrender to Christ, not dependence on human tools.
Red Flags of Counterfeit Christianity that Require Discernment
Spiritual discernment helps you recognize warning signs before confusion becomes compromise.
Be cautious if a practice:
- Claims healing apart from God’s power.
- Uses energetic tools or rituals to access hidden knowledge.
- Mixes biblical truth with New Age or Name It and Claim It philosophy.
- Creates dependence on a person or process rather than Christ.
- Produces confusion rather than clarity and peace in Christ.
The Holy Spirit brings conviction, clarity, and alignment with Scripture. Counterfeit spirituality produces spiritual fog and misplaced trust.
What True Healing Looks Like
Biblical healing is rooted in surrender to God, not energy manipulation.
True healing involves repentance, renewing your mind through Scripture, abiding in Christ, and walking in obedience. It is a process of spiritual growth shaped by sanctification, not a technique that promises instant relief.
1 Peter 2:24
First Peter 2:24 reminds us that Christ bore our sins so that we might live in righteousness. Healing is something we receive through faith in Jesus, not something we engineer through spiritual mechanics.
Discernment, surrender and obedience keep our eyes fixed on the Cross.
Counterfeit Peace vs Peace In Christ
Counterfeit peace feels temporary and self-generated. It may offer emotional relief but leaves the soul searching for more.
Peace in Christ is different. It flows from surrender to God and confidence in His sovereignty. Jesus said in John 14:27 that His peace is not like the peace the world gives.
John 14:27
If you have engaged in energy healing or similar practices, there is no condemnation in Christ. Spiritual discernment is a gift of grace. Confess, renounce, and close any spiritual doors opened in confusion. Ask the Holy Spirit to restore clarity and strengthen your relationship with God.
You do not need to raise your vibration. You need to trust God fully.
True freedom is not found in energy. It is found in Jesus.
A Loving Invitation Back to Truth
We share this not from pride, but from repentance and redemption. We were deceived, then corrected, then restored by grace.
If you feel conviction while reading this, receive it as loving discipline from the Father. Spiritual discernment draws you deeper into faith, stronger Christian fellowship, and unwavering trust in biblical truth.
Walk away from what is counterfeit. Stand firm in faith. Return to the only source of lasting transformation.
Because this is not about energy.
It is about Jesus.
