Infertility & Faith: Embracing God's Plan & Finding Peace

Infertility is one of the most tender and painful journeys a woman can walk through. Month after month of dashed hopes, endless questions, and the ache of seeing others receive what your heart longs for can feel like a wilderness with no end in sight.

In this episode, we open up about our personal stories with infertility, the heartbreak it brought into our lives, and most importantly, the way God met us in our pain and transformed our hearts.

Wrestling with the “Why”

For both of us, infertility was not just a medical diagnosis. It was a heart-wrenching journey filled with grief, anger, disappointment, and questions for God.

Why would You give me this desire if You were not going to fulfill it? Why would You withhold something so good, something that feels part of Your design for women?

These were questions we wrestled with deeply. And yet, they became the very place where God met us.

From Striving to Surrender

We share openly about the striving. Tracking cycles, supplements, surgeries, prayers, and endless attempts to make it happen. Even when our efforts looked spiritual, they were often still rooted in striving.

But God is a jealous God. He wanted our hearts more than our performance. He gently revealed that our identity as women and daughters of the King was never dependent on whether we bore children.

Infertility became the place where God taught us surrender.

Learning Contentment in Christ

Through prayer and honest conversations with God, He began to shift our desires. When we finally laid down our longing for motherhood on the altar, He replaced it with peace, contentment, and a renewed sense of purpose.

We came to understand that being mothers of many does not always happen through biology. God births spiritual motherhood through mentoring, encouraging, and raising up women of faith.

We saw how misplaced hope makes the heart sick, but hope placed fully in Christ never disappoints. True joy does not come from what we hold in our arms, but Who we hold in our hearts.

Encouragement for the Waiting Heart

If you’re walking through infertility right now, here’s what we want you to know:

You’re not alone. God sees every tear, every prayer, and every longing.

Your identity is secure. You are loved, chosen, and whole in Christ, whether or not you become a mother.

Your hope is safe in Him. Place your hope in the Lord, not in outcomes, and you will find peace that passes understanding.

As Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 13:12:

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12

When our hope rests in God, not in a specific outcome, it never runs dry.

Reflection Questions

  1. What expectations or desires are you currently striving to fulfill in your own strength?
  2. Where in your life is God calling you to a deeper place of surrender?
  3. How can you cultivate spiritual motherhood or find purpose in unexpected ways in your current season?

Final Thoughts

Infertility does not disqualify you from a purposeful, joy-filled life. God has a plan that is perfect, even if it looks different than what you imagined. Whether He blesses you with children, leads you to spiritual motherhood, or fills your life in unexpected ways, His plan is always good.

Friend, your story isn’t over. And your faith-filled “yes” to God in this season matters more than you know.
